So goes the title of the YouTube video of the title sequence for the Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The title sequence combines many of my inspirations in one amazing package!! The Bizarre, the Mysterious, Shadow Theater, Escher-esque Spaces, Woodcut prints, White Chalk, Asian Art, Textile Design, Modern Jazz Inspired Music… wish the entire movie had been done in this style – I wouldn’t have fidgeted through it, then – Don’t get me wrong – The movie is great, as are the set design and art direction – but I definitely enjoyed the title sequence more!

Jamie Caliri is a director with a passion for visual story telling. His animated films of recent years have garnered an Emmy and three Annie awards, among others.
