‘The Wicked Dragon of Pelmel’ is a story about the addictive nature of power, and its potential to devastate, or, create. When the dragon accidentally discovers his ability to breathe fire, he uses it to terrorize the little creatures of Pelmel Forest. Alarmed by this sudden occurence, these forest creatures get all riled up to hunt down this horrible monster. When they do, they are in for a big surprise! Not only is the dragon sleeping quietly, but looks anything but the terrible monster they had imagined him to be. So they promptly include him in their circle of friendship. Will this innocuous invitation beget the scorching heat of his breath, or the gentle warmth of friendship?
There was a wicked dragon
And so wicked was he..
That every night
When all slept tight
He went on a burning spree..
“Whoo hooo, whoo hoooooo,
Has lost his grace utter-ly?
What can I do?
About this hullabaloo –
It wakes my chicks up so early!
Nice dragon illustations. I am learning vector illustations myself and I love it. Hopefully one day I can create original artwork and make some profit.
thanks! Good luck with your illustrations!
i like these illustrations! did you do these? you shud get them made into mouse (mice?) pads or on t-shirts or something. Really love the green with the trees. Julia
Thanks, Julia – I would like to finish the story before thinking about merchandise. i am working on a different story right now, but do have some ideas for more sale-friendly stuff – posters and stuff, after I finish what Ia m working on right now. I am terrible at multi-tasking!
Wonderful work! I love the look of the dragon and can’t wait to read about the outcome of the little creatures of Pelmel forest.
I can practically feel how sharp the scales of the wicked dragon. Nice.
I came across this as I was wondering where the name Pelmel came from. Pelmel was a Sydney 80s indie band and had a song called “No word from China” if you search Pelmel you will see.
I haven’t heard of the band – but chose the word Pelmel – as a variation on “pellmell” as the story has some chaos. Thanks for stopping by.
These graphics are superb. Can you make prints and save some for us.
I love it! Is this a new story you’re working on?
yeah-its a children’s poem – i was wondering when u will have the time to read it – 🙂
